Webmaster Resources: What is a Webmaster?
There are as nearly many interpretations of the answer to that question, as there are actual webmasters working today. It can certainly be described as a "melting pot" of overlapping skills. A webmaster can be a one man show or the owner of a small business, whose responsibilities include web design, programming, website construction, search engine optimization, marketing and support. Conversely, a webmaster could hold a position in a large company where his/her single responsibility is oversight of an entire team of web developers whose talents and expertise run the gamut of web development and deployment tasks.
